Acting tough, the Prayagraj administration initiated ‘bulldozer’ action on the property of Atiq Ahmed’s aide, Safdar Ali . The property was demolished in connection with the Umesh Pal murder case.
On Wednesday, the bulldozer action was initiated against another aide of Atiq Ahmed, Zafar Ahmed.
The Prayagraj Development Authority (PDA) on March 1 demolished the house of kin of mafia-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed. The now-demolished house was located in Chakia in Prayagraj. The house belonged to Khalid Jafar where Shaista Parveen was currently residing after Atiq Ahmad’s own house was demolished for having been “illegally constructed”.
Umesh Pal, the main witness in the murder of then BSP MLA, Raju Pal, was shot on February 24. Raju Pal was shot dead in Prayagraj in January 2005. Atiq Ahmed’s brother Ashraf Ahmad is the main accused in the case.
Ahmed is currently lodged in a Gujarat prison. The gangster-turned-politician is booked in connection with the recent killing of Umesh Pal.
Meanwhile, it has been learnt that the Prayagraj police and district administration are tigheting the noose around Ahmed and have shortlisted 40 properties of the jailed gangster to see whether they were acquired through illegitimate means.
The administration is canning properties in Kasari Masari, Kareli, Harwara, Sadiapur, Mundera, Atala, Gaddopur and other areas of Prayagraj.
Atiq Ahmed has sought protection from the Supreme court saying he feared being killed in a fake encounter by the Uttar Pradesh Police. The apex Court will hear Ahmed’s petition seeking protection on March 17.
Uttar Pradesh killed Arbaaz, an accused in the Umesh Pal murder, in an encounter in Prayagraj on February 27.
