As the West intensifies sanctions against Russia, its Ambassador Denis Alpov said that the Ukraine crisis will have for the whole world including Moscow’s ties with New Delhi.
“Ukraine-Russia crisis will have consequences for the whole world including Russia-India ties, to what extent, it’ll be reflected, can’t say now. There may be an impact in terms of transactions, possibility of financial cooperation in connection with sanctions,” the Russian envoy said.
Seeking cooperation from New Delhi amid santions by West, Alpov said the crisis has opened a window for Indian businesses.
“It makes sense for Indians to take advantage of the #UkraineRussia situation when West partners refuse to cooperate. A window of opportunity for Indian business…makes sense for India to cooperate,” he said.
The Russian envoy also talked about the evacuation of Indians from the conflict zones in Ukraine. He said Russia has provided 100s of buses and they are waiting to take Indians out.
“A group of diplomats has been sent to Belgorod from the Indian embassy to deal with this issue on the spot and coordinate actions with the Russian side,” Aplov said.
The Ministry of External Affairs earlier today stated that a total of 15 evacuation flights have returned to the country with nearly 3,000 Indian nationals, who were stuck in war-hit Ukraine, as part of Operation Ganga.
“As many as 15 flights have landed in the last 24 hours with around 2,900 onboard. Approximately 13,300 people returned to India so far. 13 more flights are scheduled for the next 24 hours,” ANI quoted MEA spokesperson Arindam Bagchi as saying.
