Uttarakhand will implement the Uniform Civil Code at the start of November. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami announced on Monday that the government aims to have the UCC in place before the State Foundation Day in November.
During the BJP state working committee meeting, the chief minister stated, “Our government aims to implement the UCC before the State Foundation Day on November 9.”
He mentioned that the draft of the UCC has been made public. Recently, the UCC Rules and Implementation Committee uploaded the report of four sections of the UCC on the website for the general public to access. The UCC bill was passed in the state assembly in February this year and received approval from both the Governor and President Draupadi Murmu in March.
CM Dhami criticized the opposition, accusing them of spreading confusion, lies, and rumors. He said that a significant group in the state is consistently involved in these conspiracies, whether it’s about the registration for the Chardham Yatra, creating confusion about the travel route, or trying to stir up false controversies over religious places and traditions.
CM urged everyone to thwart the efforts of those pretending to be lions. He encouraged all to work with renewed energy, enthusiasm, and zeal to achieve Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of making this decade the decade of Uttarakhand and creating a developed India by 2047.
