Toddler experiences head-first fall from stands during WI vs SCO T20 World Cup match

When Scotland were tightening the screws over West Indies in their opening game of the tournament, a terrible off-field incident took place at Hobart’s Bellerive Oval as a young kid had a bad fall in Match No. 3 of T20 World Cup 2022.
The incident took place after 14 overs of Scotland’s innings were completed. As West Indies captain Nicholas Pooran was seen changing the end during the time between overs, camera panned to one of the parts of the Oval ground in Hobart, which has banks instead of stands. A kid was playing alongside the steel bar with what seemed like a ball. The kid did grab the ball, however, lost his balance and went down the railing and he fell off head-first with both his legs up in the air. His father came rushing in to look at his child as all the attention turned towards him for a moment.
Cricket Australia CEO Nick Hockley was concerned seeing the video, which went viral on the internet. But it was confirmed in the end that the child was safe.
It was the West Indies, who weren’t safe on the day as they suffered a 42-run loss at the hands of a spirited Scottish outfit. Scotland owing to George Munsey’s unbeaten knock of 66 reached a score of 160 somehow and even though it was a good score, West Indies with their powerful batting line-up would have fancied their chances, but it wasn’t to be.
Despite the start Kyle Mayers and Brandon King provided the two-time champions, Mark Watt with his 24-yard deliveries produced magical spell as he snapped three wickets and bamboozled the Windies middle-order. While Watt dismissed King, Alzaarri Joseph and Odean Smith, off-spinner Michael Leask got rid of Pooran and Scotland really believed after that wicket. Before which, it was a matter of time before West Indies folded and Scotland threw open the Group B.
