Star kids tend to be all boxed into the same category, with people assuming that they got everything easy. Shraddha Kapoor spoke ahead of her big release Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar and she opened up on how opportunities have not come easily to her and she has had to work hard and give auditions much like anyone else.
Shraddha went on to briefly tell us how even though she is a star kid, she has had a journey that has been more like an outsider. When quipped if even with that, many would believe that she did get opportunities easy, whether she took them or not is a story for another time. To this, she said, “Actually, even my first film, no one served it to me on a platter, I had to audition for it. So very honestly, opportunities didn’t come to me. Nobody really called me and set that we want to launch you, or someone decided to pick me. I came to know that there are auditions happening, I went for it, I think they liked it (laughs) and that’s why they picked me.”
She added, “You know there was no buzz around me being a star kid, none of that was there and I think that is such a good thing for me because it made me think that I want to carve my own journey and this is my path – its my own and I have to make sure that I go and make my dreams come true in my own way. A lot of opportunities did not come to me, nobody was interested in casting me or giving me very specifically decided projects. Even after the first film (Teen Patti) didn’t do well, I auditioned for Yashraj, just the way anybody does and I also recorded an extra song. So, I had that in my head that I have to go the extra mile because that’s the only way and then that didn’t do well also, Luv Ka The End was a youth film and it did get appreciation but it wasn’t a big thing.”
