Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot denied having any differences with his party member Sachin Pilot. Notably, Gehlot met Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge in New Delhi. While speaking to reporters after meeting Kharge, the Rajasthan CM said that small differences happen in all parties.
He also exuded confidence in winning the upcoming assembly polls in Rajasthan. “There are no differences…Small differences keep happening in our party, it happens with all parties in every state. But we’ll contest elections together, win and from government,” Gehlot said.
The Rajasthan CM said that they accept the decisions of the party high command. “We contest elections together, win them together and then we accept the decisions of the High Command. This has been the tradition and this will continue to be the tradition,” the Rajasthan CM said.
Notably, several reports of a rift between Gehlot and Pilot surfaced. recently, Pilot held several rallies in Rajasthan and attacked the Gehlot-led government in the state. According to reports, one faction of the Congress party is demanding a leadership role for Pilot, while another faction is of the opinion that Pilot is weakening the party.
Notably, there was a “political crisis” in the party-ruled state during the Congress Presidential Election last year when there was a race between Gehlot and Pilot for the post of Chief Minister of Rajasthan. Pilot also served as the Deputy CM of the state until he revolted against the Gehlot government in July 2020. At that time, there were speculations the Pilot would join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Assembly elections in Rajasthan are scheduled to take place in December this year. The Congress high command is trying to resolve differences between the two leaders.
