The path is going to be challenging: Sachin Tendulkar reveals message for son Arjun post IPL 2022 struggles

The 2022 Indian Premier League (IPL) campaign was a frustrating one for Arjun Tendulkar. Despite Mumbai Indians’ struggles, he did not play a single game. As MI’s exit was confirmed with four games pending, there was an expectation that Arjun would make his debut in one of MI’s later games but he remained on the sidelines.
Arjun’s father and Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar revealed he has always told Arjun that the path is going to be a challenging and difficult one. He further added that 22-year-old must continue working hard as he loves the game and the results will come with time. What I am thinking or what I feel is not important. The season is already over,” Sachin said on ‘SachInsight’, a show on his Youtube channel.
“And my conversation with Arjun has always been that the path is going to be challenging, it is going to be difficult. You started playing cricket because you are in love with cricket, continue to do so, continue to work hard and results will follow,” he added.
Tendulkar is also the mentor of Mumbai Indians (MI) and has occupied the role since his retirement from the sport in 2013. However, he stated that he does not involve himself in team selection and that is solely the job of the team management. “And if we speak about selection, I have never involved myself in selection. I leave all these things to the (team)
Arjun was purchased by MI in the 2021 IPL auction for Rs. 20 lakhs. They purchased him again in the 2022 mega auction for Rs. 30 lakhs. So far, Arjun has played just two senior T20 games for Mumbai in the 2020/21 Syed Mushtaq Ali trophy. He was left out of Mumbai’s squad for the upcoming Ranji Trophy knockouts too.
The Rohit Sharma-led Mumbai Indians (MI) had their worst ever season in the league’s history as they finished last on the table. The five-time champions just four games in the league stage of the tournament.
