The Kashmir Files box office collection: Here’s how the Vivek Agnihotri directorial gave RRR Hindi a tough competition

SS Rajamouli’s RRR, starring Ram Charan and Jr NTR in lead roles, was released in theatres on March 25. Within its first week, the film went on to shatter box office records and then surpassed pre-pandemic releases PK, 2.0’s lifetime box office collection.
The film has reportedly minted Rs 1,000 crore so far at the worldwide box office and its Hindi version has crossed the Rs 200 crore mark. While there is no doubt that RRR has had a glorious run at the box office ever since, the Hindi version of SS Rajamouli directorial has also faced rather tough competition from the much-talked-about The Kashmir Files.
Earlier today, film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to Twitter to share the benchmarks set by The Kashmir Files and also shared its four-week box office collection in India. The film’s total business stands at Rs 448 crore. Meanwhile, TKF’s collection on Day 17 was a whopping Rs 225 crore.
In another tweet, he also shared the box office numbers of RRR Hindi. The film, in two weeks, collected a total of Rs 208.59 crore. On Day 13, it crossed the Rs 200 crore mark.
While RRR has been unstoppable at the box office ever since its release, The Kashmir Files had initially received a lukewarm response. The film depicts the struggles and pain of Kashmiri Pandits who were forced to leave the valley in 1990. It stars Anupam Kher, Mithun Chakraborty, Darshan Kumaar and Pallavi Joshi in lead roles.
The Kashmir Files has been lauded by several celebrities and politicians, including PM Narendra Modi. After strong word of mouth publicity, the film set the cash registers ringing. It was declared tax-free in several states including Uttar Pradesh, Tripura, Goa, Haryana and Uttarakhand.
