It has been a rather difficult year for Bollywood. 2022 has not managed to make it big on films and some of the biggest films failed to make a mark at the box office this year. Be it Laal Singh Chaddha or Samrat Prithviraj, or the many other movies, none have minted money and recovered their costs. 2022 truly belonged to The Kashmir files and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, two films that made it big at the box office by earning much more than their invested amount.
At this point, there’s all this buzz around Brahmastra, a movie that has been made on a Rs 400 crore plus budget, and of course, there have been delays as well. With Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor helming the film, one might hope and expect that the movie recovers its costs, if not make a profit out of it.
The Kashmir Files was made on a budget of around 25 Cr. but went on to collect around Rs 340 Cr. at the global box office window. On the other hand, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 was made on a budget of around Rs 70 Cr. but collected a huge figure of around 266 Cr. worldwide.
2022 has been one year that has proven that the audience is only attracted by good content, and as Ranbir Kapoor went on to say today at the press conference in New Delhi, the audiences will watch a film if the content is good, and if they don’t like it, they will not watch it.
Now, given the advanced numbers for Brahmastra’s bookings so far look up, it will be interesting to see whether or not it will be able to make the cut into the list.
