Barcelona’s stunning 4-0 victory over Real Madrid in Saturday’s El Clasico resonated worldwide, capturing the attention of football fans everywhere. Few matches generate as much excitement as the fierce rivalry between Barcelona and Real Madrid, whether in La Liga or the Champions League.

With this, during an event, India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi also talked about the game between Barcelona and Real Madrid and its popularity and its fan base across the nation.

PM Modi Highlights Football’s Popularity In India

During a roadshow in Gujarat’s Vadodara, Prime Minister Narendra Modi referred to the monumental match, emphasizing its impact even beyond Spain. “Spanish football enjoys immense popularity in India,” PM Modi stated. “The discussions surrounding Barcelona’s remarkable win were just as fervent here as they were in Spain, with passionate banter between fans echoing across the country.”

Celebrating Culture And Cooperation

Along with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez also waved to crowds along the 2.5-km route from the airport to the Tata aircraft complex, which they later inaugurated.

As they traveled, the two leaders were treated to vibrant performances highlighting India’s rich cultural heritage. Following the roadshow, they inaugurated the Tata Advanced Systems facility before heading to the historic Laxmi Vilas Palace for a bilateral meeting.

This intersection of sports and diplomacy illustrates how global events, like El Clasico, create shared moments of excitement and engagement across nations.
