Telangana CM and TRS chief K Chandrashekhar Rao is set to announce the name of his national party on October 5. Notably, a resolution will be moved during a meeting of 283 party members at Telangana Bhavan to rename the TRS or Telangana Rashtra Samiti to Bhartiya (or Bharath) Rashtra Samiti. The flag and symbol of the party will reportedly remain the same.
“KCR is going to make a sensational announcement on Dasara. People of the country, particularly youth, are waiting for KCR to enter national politics,” said TRS government whip and party Kothagudem district president Rega Kantha Rao.
A team of TRS leaders will leave for New Delhi after the Dussehra for registration of the party post rechristening with the Election Commission of India (ECI).
The rechristening of TRS is reportedly done keeping KCR’s ambition for the 2024 General Elections in mind. As per reports, KCR’s party is likely to contest 100 Lok Sabha seats across Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and a few other states.
Sources noted that a massive public meeting is scheduled to be organised in Delhi on December 9 where chief ministers and leaders of like-minded parties would be invited. KCR is also likely to announce his party’s ‘agenda for the nation at the said meeting.’
On the other hand, Telangana BJP slammed the KCR-led government in Telangana last month over allegations of corruption.
While addressing a gathering in Medchal last month, Telangana BJP chief Bandi Sanjay Kumar lashed out at the KCR government over the dumping yard issue in Jawahar Nagar and claimed that the TRS government is on the “ventilator” and will collapse soon.
“KCR has mortgaged the Medchal RTC Depot and is building shopping malls there. Let me tell you three things to solve the dumping yard problem. Catch the TRS, tie them up near the dumping yard, and give the power to BJP. We will see how the dumping yard problem is solved. Shame on some collectors and police officers who praise KCR as Ambedkar. KCR is a person who is insulting the Constitution written by Ambedkar,” he said.
