Telangana CM KCR launches national party Bharat Rashtra Samithi, eyes 2024 elections

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, who had been meeting anti-BJP leaders for months to form an alliance of regional parties, on Thursday announced his foray into national politics with the launch of his party Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS)
The national party was launched on the occasion of Dussehra at the TRS headquarters Telangana Bhavan in Hyderabad. The event was attended by over 250 party leaders, ministers, MPs, MLAs, MLCs and district level coordinators.
The decision to rechristen TRS to BRS has been taken in the General body meeting. A resolution has been passed by TRS General Body. The party plans to field candidates for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections from several states.
Ahead of the big announcement, posters and banners of KCR have been put up in the city saying, ‘Dear India, he’s coming.’
KCR, who has been nursing national ambitions since 2018, often announced that “very soon, the formation of a national party and formulation of its policies will take place”. He has been of the view that both BJP and Congress have failed the country and reiterated the need for a stronger alliance.

The Telanagana Chief Minister renamed his TRS party as Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS). The decision was celebrated by the party workers with firecrackers. As per media reports, the party is likely to fight Munugode bypoll, scheduled for November 4, as its first ever election. BRS may also contest assembly elections in Gujarat, Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Delhi.

The party will most likely retain its election symbol of car and its pink colour. The name change decision will be conveyed to the Election Commission in person on October 6.
A day before the announcement, TRS leader Rajanala Srihari was seen districuting liquor bottles and chicken to locals. As the video of the event made headlines, Congress lashed out at the Telangana CM calling him “brand ambassador of liquor.”
KCR will next hold a public meeting in Delhi on December 9.
