‘Take a cue from UK’s Liz Truss and quit’: Opposition leaders slam Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde over ‘loss’ of mega-projects

Amid furore over the ‘loss’ of the Tata consortium-Airbus project, opposition leaders in Maharashtra have now called for Chief Minister Eknath Shinde’s resignation. The Uddhav Thackeray-led faction of the Shiv Sena as well as other Opposition parties in
“Eknath Shinde has visited Delhi several times but he seems to have not raised the issues concerning Maharashtra. I have not heard him say even once that the Tata Airbus project should come to the state. While being in government and being in Opposition, we have been raising the issue of Vedanta Foxxcon and Bulk Drug Park projects,” former Maharashtra Minister Aaditya Thackeray said.
“Eknath Shinde is busy safeguarding his post as Chief Minister…Gujarat is continuing its surgical strikes on Maharashtra,” opined NCP spokesperson Mahesh Tapse. He urged the CM to take a cue from former UK Prime Minister Liz Truss and tender his resignation.
“For the past eight years, the BJP at the Centre led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been scuttling the state’s interests by shifting major industries, investments and institutions to his home state, and now the treacherous Shinde-Fadnavis regime here is acting like ‘agents’ of Gujarat,” Congress’ Maharashtra unit president Nana Patole said.
The CM meanwhile insisted that the state will get major investments in the coming days.
“There has been a discussion going on about the industries in the state and our industries minister is speaking on this issue. I don’t want to comment on it. (But) The government will not fall short in generating employment for the youth,” Shinde said.
