Swami Prasad Maurya tried to strangle me, abused sadhus and Hindu faith: Mahant Raju Das

Mahant Raju Das of Hanuman Garhi in Ayodhya lodged a complaint with the Lucknow Police Commissioner, alleging that Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Swami Prasad Maurya tried to strangle him and abused sadhus and Hindu faith.
In his complaint, Raju Das alleged that Maurya launched an unprovoked attack on him along with his supporters at Taj Hotel lobby in Lucknow.
Das further alleged that the Samajwadi Party leader tried to strangle him, insulted Hindu faith, gods and goddesses and also tried to incite others to kill him.
Mahant Raju Das urged the police commissioner to register a case against Maurya and take appropriate action.
The complaint was lodged a day after Swami Prasad Maurya and Mahant Raju Das of Hanuman Garhi in Ayodhya came to blows in the lobby of the five-star hotel.
The incident happened when the two were attending a news conclave organised by a TV channel during which they got into a heated argument which turned physical.
Earlier, Das Das had recently announced a reward of Swami Prasad Maurya’s head after the SP leader made objectionable remarks on Ramcharitmanas.
Mahant Das claimed that he was attacked by the SP leader’s supporters.
SP leader Swami Prasad Maurya has courted controversy over his on the alleged objectionable verses from Ramcharitmanas.
Maurya had recently written a letter to President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi demanding an amendment to or a ban on the allegedly objectionable verses of the Hindu epic Ramcharitmanas.
“According to well-known literary figure A.K. Ramanujam, there are around 300 Ramayans in India. But the story-tellers have made Ramcharitmanas a religious text. Why is religious importance being given to this Hindu epic? Is it not an effort to establish the supremacy of the Brahmins and to make Dalits a lowly community?” Maurya had asked.
