Indian Premier League franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad co-owner Kaviya Maran is an avid cricket fan and can be regularly seen cheering for her team from the stands during IPL matches. The 30-year-old is in South Africa these days, where she is cheering for Sunrisers Eastern Cape, a sister franchise of Sunrisers Hyderabad, which is taking part in the inaugural season of the SA20 league.
The daughter of Sun Network owner Kalanithi Maran was up for a surprise on Thursday (January 19) when, during her team’s match against Paarl Royals at Boland Park in Paarl, she received a ‘marriage proposal’ from a South African cricket fan who was present at the stadium to watch the match.
After the end of the eighth over of the Paarl Royals’ innings, the camera shifted towards a fan who was seen holding a placard that read, “KAVYA MARAN, WILL YOU MARRY ME?” with a heart emoji.
The video was shared by the league’s official Twitter account and has since gone viral on social media platforms.
Marin actively takes part in Sunrisers affairs and was recently seen in the IPL 2023 mini auctions as well, which took place in Kochi on December 23, 2022. Apart from the auctions, she regularly attends the team’s matches as well, and in the last couple of years, her on-field reactions have garnered enough attention on social media platforms.
Talking about the match between Sunrisers Eastern Cape and Paarl Royals, the former managed to beat the hosts by five wickets in match No. 14 of the inaugural edition of SA20. The win on Thursday was Sunrisers’ third triumph in five matches played so far, and with it, they have now reached the second position in the six-team table. They have 12 points and are only behind the Pretoria Capitals now. Their next match is against the Joburg Super Kings at St George’s Park in Gqeberha on Saturday, January 21.
