Former Indian cricketer Sanjay Bangar has made a very interesting proposition for the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in IPL 2025 regarding Rishabh Pant. According to Bangar, giving Pant freedom to play freely at the top of the order might bring out the best in him.
LSG Faced Shocking Defeat Against DC
Pant, who had just assumed charge of LSG’s captaincy, in his tenure as his side was reduced to a heartbreaking one-wicket loss against Delhi Capitals (DC) on March 24 at the Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam. His own on-field performance too could not be asked for much better as he was caught on a six-ball duck by Kuldeep Yadav and also missed an important stumping on the last over of DC’s run chase.
Sanjay Banger Suggests New Batting Position For Pant
“And free up Rishabh Pant. Rishabh, as a batter, in the longer format has shown he is a far better player against quality pace too. He has a reputation of hitting against spin. He has done well against pace. So utilise him at the top of the order,” Bangar said.
Shamar Joseph Over Aiden Markram?
Along with his tactical proposal regarding Pant, Bangar also suggested that LSG bolster their bowling unit by adding West Indies pacer Shamar Joseph in the place of Aiden Markram. With LSG all set to take on the free-scoring Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Thursday at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, a balanced team will be key to their resurgence.
“I always believed that in the white-ball format, the best position for him is at the top. Let him open the innings. Drop Markram and get Shamar Joseph. The middle-order is unchanged as far as overseas batters are concerned,” Bangar told the broadcasters.
