At a time when multiple reports claimed that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president has resigned from the top post, board secretary Jay Shah has cleared the air on the speculations regarding the future of the legendary cricketer. One of the greatest cricketers in the history of the game, former Team India skipper Ganguly shared a cryptic post after the conclusion of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 on Wednesday.
“Today, I am planning to start something that I feel will probably help a lot of people. I hope you continue your support as I enter this chapter of my life. 2022 marks the 30th year since the start of my journey with cricket in 1992. Since then, Cricket has given me a lot. Most importantly, it has given me the support of all of you. I want to thank every single person who has been a part of the journey, supported me, and helped me reach where I am today,” tweeted Ganguly, who guided India to the final of the 2003 World Cup.
Speaking about Ganguly’s future with the BCCI, board secretary Shah confirmed that Ganguly has not resigned from the top post. “Sourav Ganguly is still the BCCI chief,” Shah has confirmed. Shah asserted that the rumours doing the rounds about Ganguly’s resignation are factually incorrect. “We have some exciting times in the form of media rights coming up and my colleagues,” the BCCI secretary added
Earlier, BCCI’s top officials Shah and Ganguly had attended the final of the IPL 2022 between Gujarat Titans (GT) and Rajasthan Royals (RR). The final was played at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Sunday. The latest developments have come ahead of India’s first white-ball assignment after the 15th edition of the world’s richest T20 league – the IPL. After successfully hosting the 15th season of the IPL, India will welcome South Africa for a five-match white-ball series. Team India will play the series opener against the Proteas at the Arjun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Thursday (June 9).
