Sonam Kapoor and Anand Ahuja embraced parenthood as they welcomed their baby boy on August 20. Meanwhile, Sonam, did an interview during her last trimester, and she had got talking about motherhood, the journey, among other things during that conversation. She had also revealed how she and husband Anand had plans for their first baby in 2020 but the pandemic delayed it. Further, she also revealed how it was on her birthday last year that she told Anand about the baby.
Sonam revealed in an interview that she got pregnant in December last year and they announced the pregnancy in March 2022. The couple had shared some photos of a photoshoot on Instagram and announced their baby’s arrival.
Talking to Vogue India, Sonam opened up on her first trimester, measures she took for her health and how pandemic changed their plans for a baby.
“Honestly, (when) I got married (2018), we wanted to wait for two years and then the (Covid-19) pandemic happened. Then I heard lots of stories from my friends, who went through a very difficult time during the pandemic, going to hospitals, having their parents with them. In India we are used to a support system of our moms, our in-laws and all of that. You want your mother around. You want your partner around and to come to the hospital, all these things. So, Anand and I decided… We were planning for 2020. Then we were in Delhi at the beginning of the pandemic at his parents’ house and at that point we just decide to wait, because we did not know what Covid-19 was at that point. We did not understand and we thought, let’s just wait,” Sonam said.
Sonam also spoke about getting a go-ahead from the doctors. She said said that they waited and the pandemic did not seem to be going anywhere. She said how in June 2021, she decided to tell Anand that they can’t wait anymore.
She revealed how she had done all her check-ups with a couple of doctors, in India and in London, and they said she is fine. She said how she went ahead, and by December, they were pregnant, and then she had to start taking progesterone shots because of her age.
Sonam Kapoor and Anand Ahuja tied the knot in May 2018 after they dated for a couple of years.
