Recently, the singer took to her social media and slammed the Hindi remake of the Sri Lankan song Manike Mage Hithe and called it a “horror”. She also commended the public for the backlash Neha Kakkar’s new song O Sajna received online.
Sona Mohapatra took to her Twitter and commended the backlash the makers of O Sajna received online. O Sajna is a song by Neha Kakkar, which is the remix version of Falguni Pathak’s iconic number Maine Payal Hai Chhankai. The remix version of the song which has been composed by Tanishk Bagchi and crooned by Neha Kakkar, incited a lot of online trolling and people even slammed the makers for making a remake of this dance number.
Sona Mohapatra commended people for the backlash over the song and tweeted, “I can only hope that the music labels & #Bollywood film producers killing the creative community & creators by commissioning short-cuts; remakes, remixes take note of the public backlash on the recent #FalguniPathak hit. Also, dear #India , do stand up more often to such.”
In another tweet, the Ambarsariya singer went on to call the Hindi version of Manike Mage Hithe a “puke worthy”. She tweeted, “the constant showcasing of a lack of courage to back new compositions, songwriters, disrespecting creators, writers has destroyed the fabric of what made #Bollywood music culturally relevant.The horror of the Sri Lankan Manike Mage remade, case in point2. Puke worthy for me.”
Also, a Twitter user commented on her tweet that read, “I didn’t like the original too. The remake is worthy only for eye-candy people in it.” Sona replied, “eye-candy OD & no substance or giving me a stomach ache. Hoping #India gets there too. (Yea, the young nubile moaning in a vulnerable tone was not my favourite too, but then the current sasta borrowing is even worse in my opinion).”
