As Bollywood heads into the second half of 2025, the box office is heating up with two high profile releases Son of Sardaar 2 and Dhadak 2 which are both slated to hit theatres on August 1. The clash follows the roaring success of Saiyaara, which continues its historic theatrical run, and now, all eyes are on how these upcoming releases will perform in a post Saiyaara market.

Son Of Sardaar 2 Predicted Box Office Collection Day 1

Ajay Devgn’s much awaited sequel to the 2012 action-comedy Son of Sardaar is all set to release this Friday, August 1. Directed by Vijay Kumar Arora and co-starring Mrunal Thakur, the film is gearing up for a theatrical debut amid fierce box office competition. Early estimates from Pinkvilla suggest a moderate start, with Day 1 collections expected to fall between Rs 6.25 crore to Rs 6.75 crore.

While the trailer has drawn mixed reactions, the film’s soundtrack has managed to generate some chatter, particularly the track “Pehla Tu Dujha Tu”, which has gained mild traction on social media.

It was earlier scheduled to hit the theatres on July 25, 2025. Apart from Ajay Devgn, the movie also stars Ravi Kishan and Sanjay Mishra in the lead roles. ‘Son Of Sardaar 2’ also features the late actor Mukul Dev, who passed away on May 23, 2025, a few months before the release of his movie. The first part of ‘Son Of Sardaar 2’ was released in 2012 and also starred Sonakshi Sinha, Juhi Chawla and Sanjay Dutt.

To draw audiences to theatres, the makers have announced a 50% discount on tickets for the opening day. Jio Studios, the film’s producers, revealed the promotional offer via BookMyShow.

Dhadak 2 Predicted Box Office Collection Day 1

On the other hand, Dhadak 2 featuring Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri arrives with the weight of expectations. Produced by Dharma Productions, the romantic drama is forecasted to collect between Rs 3.75 crore to Rs 4.25 crore on its opening day. Tthe film is a spiritual successor to the 2018 romantic drama Dhadak, which originally launched Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter.

Dhadak 2 explores themes of caste and social discrimination. The trailer gives a peek into a love story between two law students. But their relationship is tested as they face many problems that try to pull them apart. Siddhant’s character goes through tough times in college and outside, but he stands strong and deals with everything with courage.

The film also features Vipin Sharma, Manjiri Pupala, Deeksha Joshi, Priyank Tiwari, Amit Jaat, Mayank Khanna, and Ashwant Lodhi.

However, both films will face stiff competition at the box office. Saiyaara, starring debutants Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, released on July 18 and has been a surprise blockbuster, collecting over Rs 400 crore globally. Adding to the pressure, these two films will have just two weeks to perform before the arrival of one of the year’s biggest releases, War 2. Directed by Ayan Mukerji and starring Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR, War 2 is slated for an August 14 release and is expected to dominate screens nationwide.
