The Indian left-hand batter, Smriti Mandhana etched her name into the record books as she went on to smash the fastest century for India in the history of Women’s ODI. Mandhana broke her skipper’s (Harmanpreet Kaur) record, who earlier had a record of 87 balls. Mandhana achieved this feat against Ireland in the ongoing ODI series.
Reached fifty of 39 balls
Smriti Mandhana reached her fifty in just 39 balls and went on to accelerate further, completing her next fifty off 31 more deliveries. Her partner Rawal was also in good form at the other end, so there was never any pressure on Mandhana during her innings. The Ireland bowlers looked helpless against the aggressive batting from the Indian openers as Smriti completed her 10th ODI century in the 24th over.
