And finally, after a long wait, the diehard fans of Shahid Kapoor got to see the much-awaited trailer of his upcoming film Jersey online on Tuesday. To launch the sports drama’s trailer, the cast and crew of the film organised a launch event and invited the media to ask questions. During the candid interaction, a reporter asked Shahid Kapoor about his experience of working with his father Pankaj Kapur in Jersey. The actor’s response won hearts on the internet.
Taking a trip down memory lane, the actor shared how intimidated he was to shoot with his father. He revealed that on the first day of the shoot where he had to share screen space with Pankaj, something nerve-racking happened with him. And, since then he has always been scared to work with his highly-talented father.
Sharing what happened on the first day of the shoot with his father Pankaj, Shahid said, “It’s very scary to work with your dad, especially if he is an actor.” He continued, “I had shot about 15 days with the director and I felt that he is happy with my work and all. On the first day of shooting with my dad Pankaj though, we started the scene and Gowtam took his shot first. And, my dad did the take and suddenly I saw Gowtam’s expression has changed. So, I looked at him and said, ‘What happened man’. Very seriously, he went up to my dad and said, ‘outstanding sir, we are moving on’. Then he walked into a corner and I followed, as I was nervous, and I asked, ‘kya hua Gowtam sir’. So, he says, I am very concerned. I asked why and he replies, ‘will you be able to match his calibre in the shot because he is outstanding, no one will look at you’. So, that’s my dad. And, yes it’s nerve-racking to work with him because of how great he is.”
Jersey is the Hindi remake of a Telugu film of the same title. The trailer shows Shahid’s character struggling to make ends meet after leaving his career behind. To earn his child’s respect and not be considered a failure by him, he gets back on the field and the rest we will see unfolding on the day of release.
