Shah Rukh Khan is currently on cloud nine as his team Trinbago Knight Riders from the Knight Riders’ franchise won the Women’s Caribbean Premier League (CPL). The three-team tournament started on August 30. SRK’s squad of TKR beat Barbados Royals Women, in the Women’s CPL Final on Sunday (September 4), in a low-scoring thriller, by 10 runs.
The Veer Zaara actor took to Twitter to congratulate the team and wrote, “Every victory is special….but somehow this one for @TKRiders Women’s Squad is well, most special. Well done girls you are all so beautiful and amazing. Yay!!!”
Earlier in a Twitter post, SRK congratulated the Knight Riders franchise upon inaugurating their women’s cricket team. He also mentioned that he hopes to see the women cricketers play live soon.
He tweeted, “This is such a happy moment for all of us at @KKRiders @ADKRiders and of course the lovely set of people at @TKRiders. Hope I can make it there to see this live!!”
SRK is the co-owner of the Knight Riders Group with his Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani co-star Juhi Chawla. Apart from Trinbago Knight Riders, the two Bollywood actors co-own three cricket teams together that is Kolkata Knight Riders, Los Angeles Knight Riders, and Abu Dhabi Knight Riders.
Talking about CPL, along with TKR, Guyana Amazon Warriors, led by Stafanie Taylor, and Barbados Royals, led by Hayley Matthews, also took part in the championship.
On the work front, King Khan has a number of movies lined up for release next year. He is all set to star in Pathaan alongside Deepika Padukone and John Abraham. The actor will also be seen in Atlee’s directorial Jawaan which stars lady superstar Nayanthara as well. Apart from this, SRK will be seen in Rajkumar Hirani’s Dunki starring Taapsee Pannu. The three movies are set to release in 2023.
