At the age of 56, Shah Rukh Khan is shelling out major fitness goals with his chiselled physique for his comeback venture Pathaan. King Khan sent the internet into a meltdown when he dropped a shirtless picture of himself on Instagram, flaunting eight-pack abs.
While fans are more than eager to watch SRK on the big screen once again, they are equally intrigued by his fitness levels and have been wanting to know more about the superstar’s transformation.
Much to the delight of his admirers, SRK’s fitness trainer of 25 years, Prashant Subhash Sawant has shed some light on the fitness regime that the Chennai Express actor followed for Pathaan.
I have been training Shah Rukh for 24 years; in the last four, we have been working specifically for this film. Since his look in Pathaan is very different, Shah Rukh started doing a lot of lifting heavy. We have incorporated more strength training — which helped him look better and bigger,” Prashant told indianexpress.com.
“It took us two years to build the toned physique you see on screen. His frame and look have completely changed,” he added.
Further, Prashant revealed that SRK followed a protein-rich diet for achieving the right look for the action entertainer.
“Everything in diet was planned and measured — from carbs, to fat, and protein. Transformations are always about team work. Despite injuries serving as a setback, he came back stronger by pulling off deadlifts, pull-ups, and working on his core, and legs. His discipline is commendable,” he said.
Lastly, calling SRK a ‘fitness icon’, Prashant stated Pathaan is going to be different as the audience would get to see his transformation.
Directed by Siddharth Anand, Pathaan also features Deepika Padukone and John Abraham. Marking SRK’s return to the big screen after 4 years, the Yas Raj Films production will hit the theatres in January next year.
