Maharashtra MLA and head of Prahar Janshakti Party Bachchu Kadu invited massive criticism after he made a bizarre remark advising that stray dogs should be sent to Assam to control their population. He
Kadu was speaking in the state assembly during a discussion on a calling attention motion raised by MLAs Pratap Sarnaik and Atul Bhatkhalkar regarding the problems caused by stray dogs.
While suggesting an action plan, he said that the experiment should be initiated in a single city. Bachchu Kadu had visited Assam recently, and he said that he came to know that dogs are sold for Rs 8000 in the state. In light of this, he proposed that the traders be called and a solution be planned to tackle the issue.
“Stray dogs are in demand in Assam. They fetch selling price of up to ₹8,000. To control the population of stray dogs in the state, they should be dispatched to Assam,” he purportedly said.
The remark drew sharp criticism and condemnation from animal rights activists, who termed the suggestion inhumane and outrageous.
This is not the first time a minister has made such a remark as recently Jharkhand BJP MLA Biranchi Narayan had reportedly said that if state government cannot find a solution to the problem of stray dogs attacking people, call the people of Nagaland and the problem will go away.
