A second FIR was registered against the banned radical outfit Popular Front of India (PFI) in the national capital on Thursday. The FIR has been filed under sections of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act at Delhi’s Khajuri Khas police station.
Two members of PFI, Ansar Ali and Muhammad Samun, were under UAPA. Police teams were formed to arrest the duo. “Two people have been arrested for planning and conspiring against govt. An FIR has been registered against PFI members under sections of UAPA at Khajuri Khas PS,” Delhi Police said.
The FIR comes days after a case was registered against the outfit at Shaheen Bagh police station. Four members of the extremist organisation were arrested on October 4.
“During the raid of NIA in Shaheen Bagh these four accused hatched a conspiracy and obstructed the government officials in discharging their duties. They had played a crucial role in making a strong network of PFI in Shaheen Bagh and Jamia,” the police said.
Earlier, Three offices of the outfit were sealed in south Delhi’s Shaheen Bagh and Jamia Nagar, according to a notification issued by the Delhi Police on September 30.
The Central government had banned the radical outfit and its affiliates on September 28 for five years citing threat to national security. In response, PFI said in a statement that it had dissolved itself and asked its members to stop their activities
