Samajwadi Party ally Om Prakash Rajbhar claimed an attack on him by some lathi-wielding men in his assembly constituency in Ghazipur district, prompting SP president Akhilesh Yadav to term Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s claims on law and order situation in Uttar Pradesh as “totally hollow”.
Claiming a threat to the life of Suheldev Bhartiya Samaj Party (SBSP) president Rajbhar, Yadav alleged that proper security arrangements are not being made for him.
“Misbehavior with the opposition party representatives is an attack on the democratic system,” he said.
In a release issued by the party here, the SP president said, “There is nothing worth law and order in the state and cases of rape in police stations is its proof. The Chief Minister’s claims on the law and order situation are totally hollow.”
Yadav said there have been attacks at the SBSP president in the past as well, yet no proper arrangement has been made for his security.
In a video posted by the Samajwadi Party on its Twitter handle, Rajbhar is heard saying, “Today I had gone to my assembly constituency Zahoorabad Ghazipur with my associates to express condolences in a family when 10 to 12 people armed with lathis used abusive language and got up to a fight.
“People mediated and security personnel safely brought me out. I have informed ADG law and order, control room UP Police and SP about the incident. When the BJP people are blowing their trumpet over the law and order claiming it to be good, this can happen with an MLA.”
Citing similar incidents at some other places in the past, Yadav said despite these cases, the government has remained inactive and it appears that the dispensation is working against Rajbhar. He said anti-social elements are getting encouragement due to the relaxation in security of the VIPs.
The SP supremo demanded that adequate security arrangements be made for all the opposition leaders so that they do not face any danger in going to public and raising their voices, the release said.
