Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar took cricket fans by a surprise by posting a cryptic one-word tweet on Friday (September 2) on his official account. Tendulkar joined a viral trend that has taken social media storms in the last couple of days and generated widespread interactions.
Taking to the micro-blogging site, Tendulkar wrote ‘cricket’ in a tweet that quickly caught the attention of his fans across the globe. Earlier in the day, the world cricket’s governing body The International Cricket Council (ICC) also posted the same tweet as they took part in the viral trend that has taken the internet by storm across the world.
The trend was started by American train service provided –Amtrak in the early hours of Friday (September 1). Amtrak’s one-word tweet saying ‘Trains’ went viral all over the internet and has gathered more than 150,000 likes. Seeing the viral post, many big organisations and personalities across the world joined in.
United States of America President Joe Biden wrote ‘Democracy’ while NASA said ‘Universe.’ WWE and Starbucks joined in by writing ‘Wrestling’ and Coffee.’ On the other hand, Google maps was a surprise entrant in the challenge and wrote ‘Maps.’ American news media houses Bloomberg, Washington Post, and CNN also took part by saying ‘Business’, ‘News’, and ‘Breaking News’ respectively.
Sachin set to play Road Safety World Series
Indian cricket great Sachin Tendulkar is set to make his comeback to sport by taking part in the second edition of the Road Safety World Series. Tendulkar has been confirmed as the captain of the Indian Legends team for the competition which will take place from September 10 to October 1 in Kanpur, Raipur, Indore, and Dehradun.
The first edition of the tournament was suspended mid-way in 2020 after the COVID-19 pandemic’s outset and eventually completed in 2021.
