The Pakistan national cricket team suffered an 11-run loss at the hands of South Africa in the first T20I played at Kingsmead, Durban. Pakistan couldn’t chase down 184 runs wherein Mohammad Rizwan top scored with 74 runs from 62 balls and batted with a strike rate of below 120. George Linde picked up a four-wicket haul with the ball and played a brilliant knock of 48 runs from 24 balls. His innings included three fours and four sixes. Apart from heroics from Linde, David Miller top scored for South Africa and played an innings of 82 runs from 40 balls. Miller smashed four fours and eight sixes during his stay at the crease
Getting back to detailed highlights of the match, batting first, South Africa didn’t start well when Abrar Ahmed and Shaheen Shah Afridi dismissed top three batters of the Proteas. Matthew Breetzke and Reeza Hendricks scored eight runs each whereas Rassie van der Dussen was dismissed for a golden duck. Heinrich Klaasen wasn’t able to perform well and got out for 12 runs. David Miller took the onus in his hands and added crucial runs with George Linde. Miller was dismissed for 82 runs whereas Linde gave the much needed finish to the innings and helped the team put up a respectable total.
On the other hand, Babar Azam was dismissed for a duck by Kwena Maphaka whereas Mohammad Rizwan stood at one end and batted with a slow strike rate. However, George Linde broke the backbone of the Pakistani team and ended up picking up a four-wicket haul. In the end, Rizwan ended up getting out after playing 62 balls and it played a major role in the loss of Pakistan.
