Russia fired a hypersonic intermediate-range ballistic missile at the Ukrainian city of Dnipro . This came in response to the United States and United Kingdom allowing Kyiv to strike Russian territory with advanced Western weapons, in a further escalation of the 33-month-old war.
The launch followed Ukraine’s use of six US-made ATACMS missiles for its target against Russia earlier this week.
PA Media reported, Russian President Vladimir Putin has threatened to strike the UK with a new ballistic missile which he used in Ukraine amid the ongoing war between the two countries.
What Did Putin Say?
Putin during a televised address to his country, stated that the country is entitled to use its weapons against those who supplied weapons to Ukraine to hit targets in Russia. He added that countries which would be targeted would be given advance warnings to evacuate to safety.
Putin said the strike came after Ukraine launched longer-range missiles made in the US, UK and France into Russian territory. He added that Moscow is “entitled” to strike military targets of countries that allow their weapons to be used against Russia, reported CNN.
“In response to the use of American and British long-range weapons on November 21 of this year, the Russian armed forces launched a combined strike on one of the facilities of the Ukrainian defence industry,” Putin added.
UK PM Calls Out ‘Putin’s Illegal Invasion Of Ukraine’
The UK government has issued a statement and condemned Putin for escalating the conflict in Ukraine by using a ballistic missile with a range of “several thousand kilometres” against the city of Dnipro.
Earlier, United Kingdom Prime Minister Keir Starmer had extended support to Ukraine and called out ‘Putin’s illegal invasion of Ukraine.’ He wrote on X, “Today is the sobering milestone of 1,000 days since Putin’s illegal invasion of Ukraine. As the people of Ukraine continue to bravely defend their sovereignty, the UK’s commitment to them remains ironclad.”
