Team RRR brought pride to the entire nation when they won the 95th Academy Awards with Naatu Naatu! With the film continuing to make waves across the globe, many have been looking forward to the sequel. Opening about the second installment of the beloved movie, RRR director SS Rajamouli said it might happen sooner than expected.
SS Rajamouli on RRR’s sequel?
Attending the Vanity Fair Oscars after party with Naatu Naatu’s composer MM Keeravaani, the RRR director addressed some questions about RRR’s sequel. When asked if he would be working faster on the script now that RRR had won the Oscar, SS Rajamouli laughed and said, “Obviously, (The Oscar win) is going to put some acceleration in the script. Definitely, yes, let’s see.” Meanwhile, MM Keeravaani commented that speaking about the sequel was a ‘tricky question.’
While SS Rajamouli had initially said he didn’t intend to make a sequel to his historical drama because he felt there weren’t any great ideas, he started to rethink his plans after the movie became a global success. “After the international success, when the topic came up again, my cousin (MM Keeravaani), who is also a part of my core team, gave an idea which we felt like, ‘Oh my God, this is a great idea. This is the idea that is worth pursuing,” he explained, adding that he had asked his father to start working on the idea immediately.
However, the RRR director further added, “At present, he’s seriously working on the story; he’s getting it done. But once this script is done is when we really look into how to make it, when to make it, and how to bring it onto the screen.”
