RRR box office collection: Jr NTR, Ram Charan’s film inches towards Rs 1000 crore, enters profit zone

SS Rajamouli’s RRR has been roaring at the box office ever since it was released. While the movie is creating waves on the domestic front, it is being showered with equal love abroad too. The film opened with a worldwide collection of Rs 709.36 crore in the first week. Now, with the second week almost over, the movie has entered the profit zone.
Having been made on a mammoth budget, RRR has already smashed records made by Baahubali 2, which was the director’s previous magnum opus. The Jr NTR and Ram Charan-starrer has earned over Rs 921.80 crore and is expected to march towards Rs 1000 crore this week.

The film, which was released on March 25, also stars Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgn in extended cameo roles. In India, it opened with a whopping Rs 257 crore on the first day. According to trade analyst Manobala Vijayabalan, the epic drama has entered the profit zone successfully after 12 days.
In the last 11 days, the movie minted Rs 921.80 crore and is still going strong. With KGF: Chapter 2 being the next pan-India release, RRR can have an uninterrupted run at the box office for another week, till people flock to theatres for the Yash-starrer. Besides this, Thalapathy Vijay’s Beast and Shahid Kapoor’s Jersey are also hitting the screens next week, which might affect RRR‘s box-office numbers.
The Hindi version of RRR will be the second release in March after Vivek Agnihotri’s The Kashmir Files to enter the Rs 200 crore club. The film had already gained Rs 191.59 crore.
The film has crossed the lifetime earnings of Akshay Kumar’s Sooryavanshi. According to trade analyst and film critic Taran Adarsh, “#RRR will cross *lifetime biz* of #Sooryavanshi today… Will cruise past ₹ 200 cr tomorrow [Wed; Day 13], thus becoming the second #Hindi film to hit ₹ 200 cr mark [post pandemic]… [Week 2] Fri 13.50 cr, Sat 18 cr, Sun 20.50 cr, Mon 7 cr. In just five days, RRR had minted over Rs 600 crore at the worldwide box office.
