On Day 1 of the opening Test against Bangladesh, India’s star-studded batting line-up was sent on the backfoot by Bangladeshi bowlers as KL Rahul, Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli were dismissed in quick succession. Rishabh Pant, who has not been in good form in white-ball cricket lately, launched a counter-attack to bring India back in the game. The left-handed batsman scored 46 runs off 45 balls to keep the scoreboard moving. Pant also achieved two major milestones during his knock.
Pant completed 4000 runs in international cricket during the 1st Test against Bangladesh and with his second six of the match, which came against Mehidy Hasan, he also became the fastest Indian batsmen to smash 50 sixes in the longest format of the game. Soon after he hit Hasan for a six, Pant was sent back in the hut after being bowled by the off-spinner.
During his short career, Pant has already made a big impact in red-ball cricket by scoring centuries against England and Australia away from home.
