Rishab Shetty, written directed, and headlined Kantara is currently roaring at the worldwide box office and how. The action-thriller has managed to impress moviegoers from across the globe and has been garnering immense praise from all quarters.
However, at the same time, a section of the viewers have criticised Kantara as they seem to feel that the film taps into superstition. There was also a controversy around the depiction of Daiv Kola in Kantara.
In a recent interview, Rishab was quizzed about his opinion on the criticism that Kantara incites superstition. He told ETimes, “I have presented what I have seen and what I believe in. I believe that the message of Daiv is like a bridge between nature and man. That’s the overall message of the film – everyone is equal in front of nature. We wanted to spread positivity through the film. We didn’t want to hurt anyone. If someone calls it superstition, I can’t do anything about it.”
The filmmaker-actor further added, “I didn’t want to hurt people who have been preserving the tradition of Daiv for years. I consulted them every now and then about the film’s story. They have helped me a lot to bring authenticity to the film.”
Meanwhile, Kantara continues to shine at the Hindi box office, despite facing stiff competition from the two big Diwali releases, Akshay Kumar’s Ram Setu and Ajay Devgn’s Thank God.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to Twitter to share the latest box office update of the Kannada film in the Hindi belt. He tweeted, “#Kantara *#Hindi version* is giving a tough fight to #Diwali releases [#RamSetu, #ThankGod, #BlackAdam]… [Week 3] Fri 2.75 cr, Sat 4.10 cr. Total: ₹ 38.55 cr. #India biz. Nett BOC.”
Besides Rishab, Kantara also features Sapthami Gowda, Kishore, Achyuth Kumar, and Pramod Shetty in pivotal roles.
