Only four days are left for the release of Mumbai Diaries: 26/11! The web show, directed by Nikkhil Advani, has the backdrop of the Mumbai terror attack (2008) but it is going to shed light on how doctors, front line workers, and first responders tackled the panic situation in the city of dreams. A little ahead of Mumbai Diaries: 26/11’s release, Times Now Digital interacted with the show’s director Nikkhil and actress Konkona Sen Sharma, who shared an interesting bit about their series.
In this conversation, Konkona was asked about a particular scene that challenged her on an emotional level. Without giving away much about the scene, which she claims is towards the climax of the series, the actress simply stated, “It is an unusual kind of a scene. It is an emotionally rot scene and tense. But it has a moment of fragility.”
Adding to the actress’ statement, Nikkhil said, “Chitra Das as a character (played by Konkona) is constantly dealing with the people and trying to heal people, who nobody actually cares about. She even has empathy for this person with whom she is actually having a conversation. For me, it is my favourite scene.”
The filmmaker further mentioned spilled beans about late Irrfan Khan’s connection from the movie D Day in his upcoming web project. “There’s a scene in D Day where Irrfan speaks to his son, when he knows that he is not going to meet his son, and he tells him that ‘I will see you and I will come in a white car, aise jaayenge‘. It was a beautiful scene. And it is a similar kind of scene that is there in episode 7 of Mumbai Diaries. It just blew me,” shared Advani.
Apart from talking about the aforementioned scene, Konkona spoke about a scene where ‘she had to fly wear a harness and fly through in the air when there was some action in the end, which I was terrible at’.
The actress added that it was the most challenging scene for her because she initially thought she couldn’t pull it off. But after receiving support and encouragement from the team, Konkona affirmed that she managed to do the scene and it didn’t come out to be bad.
Also starring Mohit Raina, Shreya Dhanwanthary, Tina Desai, Mumbai Diaries: 26/11 will start streaming on Amazon Prime Video on September 9.
