Cheteshwar Pujara struck his 25th Ranji Trophy century for Saurashtra in the second round of the tournament against Chhattisgarh at Rajkot. Catch up all the live cricket scores and updates here .
On Monday, Pujara took 197 balls to cross the three-figure mark as Saurashtra hunted down the 578/7 declared total of Chhattisgarh. In First-Class cricket, it was his 66th century that helped him surpass Brian Lara’s record.

Pujara is the fourth-highest run-scorer and a century-maker in the history of First-Class cricket from India, after Sunil Gavaskar, Sachin Tendulkar, and Rahul Dravid. He crossed the 21,000-run mark in First-Class cricket, achieved in his 273rd match, during this innings.

Despite not playing for the Test team since last year’s World Test Championship final against Australia, Pujara had been an excellent red-ball cricketer. Last Ranji Trophy season was when he scored 829 runs in eight matches, giving him an average of a magnificent 69.08. Pujara has hit six centuries in 2024, this includes both Sussex and County Championship.

He is joint second with Paras Dogra, a veteran of 30 centuries, of the 25 active players in the Ranji Trophy. Pujara boasts nearly 7,500 runs in the tournament and comes in second to Sitanshu Kotak in Saurashtra’s list of all-time run-getters.
