After the Indian Medical Association (IMA) blasted Ramdev for remarks against allopathy, the yoga guru’s aide Acharya Balkrishna sparked a row claiming that IMA president Dr. JA Jayalal was conspiring to convert India to Christianity.
Balkrishna in a tweet said there is a conspiracy to convert the entire country into Christianity which is why Yoga and Ayurveda are being maligned and targeted.
“As part of the conspiracy to convert the entire country into Christianity, Yoga and Ayurveda are being maligned by targeting @yogrishiramdev jee. Countrymen, wake up now from the deep slumber Folded hands otherwise the generations to come will not forgive you,” said Balkrishna in a tweet
A defamation notice is also being sent to Ramdev on behalf of the IMA
This comes after the IMA-Uttarakhand division demanded strict action against the Yoga Guru with state unit President Dr. Ajay Khanna writing a letter to Chief Minister Tirath Singh Rawat and Chief Secretary.
In a letter to Health Minister Harsh Vardhan, the IMA accused Ramdev of creating a false sense of fear and frustration in the public so that he can sell his “illegal” and “unapproved” medicines and make money at the cost of the people.
“IMA brings to the notice of our Health Minister, a video circulating in social media portraying the celebrated Yoga guruji addressing ‘ALLOPATHY EK AISI STUPID AUR DIWALIYA SCIENCE HAI’. In the past too, he had uttered modern medical doctors as murderers in the presence of the Health Minister himself on the pretext of the release of his wonder drugs,” the IMA said.
Harsh Vardhan called Ramdev’s comment ‘inappropriate’
Ramdev had to withdraw his statements on allopathic medicine after receiving a letter from Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan who called his remarks “inappropriate”.
“We do not oppose modern medical science and allopathy. We believe that allopathy has shown immense progress in surgery and the lifesaving system and served humanity. My statement has been quoted as part of a WhatsApp message that I was reading during a meeting of volunteers. I am sorry if it has hurt anyone’s sentiment,” wrote Ramdev in his letter to the Union Health Minister in Hindi.
