Railways may soon withdraw the service charge on food orders placed while travelling

Ministry of Railways may soon withdraw the service charge being levied on food order placed while travelling on train
Sources have indicated that the ministry may soon release a formal order for the same.
IRCTC levies a service charge of Rs. 50, for the food & beverage order placed while travelling by train
No such service charge is levied if the food order is pre booked by the passengers for their rail journey.
But it’s also likely that the price of the food and beverages may increase, for those who are not making pre booking or make the order instantly while travelling by train.
In an order dated March 13, 2018, by the railway ministry, the service charge of Rs 50 was levied on the F&B order placed to IRCTC by the passengers while travelling by train.
Recently, the consumer affairs ministry also issued order dated July 4th, that demanding of service charge shall amount to Unfair Trade Practice, and no such Service Charge shall be levied by any hotel/restaurants or any other entity.
