Congress leader Rahul Gandhi wrote a letter to Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan days after his son Aryan was arrested in a drug case in Mumbai and said that the country is with you.
In the letter addressed to Shah Rukh Khan and his wife Gauri, the former Congress president extended his support to him and wrote, “Truth cannot be held hostage for long.”
“No child deserves to be treated like this,” wrote Rahul Gandhi, Adding, “I have seen the good work you have done for people. I am sure their blessings and goodwill will be with you.” He had also wished them that the family will be together soon.
“I know that you are compassionate and created goodwill in the community. That’s why I can see widespread support for your family,” the letter read.
For the unversed, Aryan Khan was arrested by the NCB on October 3 following a raid on a cruise ship off the Mumbai coast. He was granted bail by the Bombay High Court last Thursday.
According to reports, the letter was written on October 14, when Aryan was lodged at the Arthur Road jail.
Case sparks political controversy
The case sparked a political controversy with Maharashtra minister Nawab Malik levelling serious allegations against NCB zonal director Sameer Wankhade.
Referring to the NCB drug probe related to the death of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput, the NCP leader had earlier alleged that the central agency is trying to defame Maharashtra and the film industry in Mumbai.
“NCB was formed to look after different states and also international drug cases. NCB Mumbai is in the news since the SSR case. The way SSR case was registered outside the jurisdiction in Bihar. It was a murder case that was registered…It was an attempt to malign the film industry,” he had said.
However, the NCB has denied all the allegations calling them baseless and reiterated that our procedure has been and will continue to be professionally and legally transparent and unbiased.
