Photos of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi holding actor Poonam Kaur’s hand as the two take part in the Bharat Jodo Yatra have sparked a fresh row between the BJP and Congress. The image in question came after Kaur and students belonging to the Osmania University joined Gandhi during the march as it traverses through Telangana.
“Following the footsteps of his great grandfather!” tweeted BJP leader Priti Gandhi on Saturday, sharing a photo of the duo.
The jibe has since prompted a flurry of outraged remarks and clarifications from the Opposition ranks. Some including Congress leader Radhika Khera even went as far as to book the BJP leader an appointment with a psychologist.
“This is absolutely demeaning of you. Remember prime minister spoke about narishakti…I almost slipped and toppled. That’s how sir held my hand,” came the response from Kaur.
“Only someone with a depraved mindset will tweet something as despicable as this. Not surprising, since she belongs to a party that releases gang-rapists and murderers for ‘good behaviour’ and attends satsangs conducted by them!” came the sharp retort from Congress spokesperson Shama Mohamed.
“Yes he is following in the footsteps of his great grandfather – and is uniting this great country of ours. That aside, your childhood traumas are deep and a proof of your sick mind. You need treatment,” opined fellow Congress leader Supriya Shrinate.
“If you mean, it leads to women walking shoulder to shoulder with men and hand in hand…to strengthen and take the nation forward, then not just Pandit Nehru’s vision of India but also Babasaheb Ambedkar’s and the freedom fighters’ dream of equal India will be realised. Sit down please,” responded Shiv Sena MP Priyanka Chaturvedi.
