The US National Security Adviser(NSA) hinted at the agenda of the Russia-Ukraine conflict to be discussed between PM Modi and President Biden during the bilateral meeting at the Quad Summit in Tokyo. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to attend bilateral meetings with US President Joe Biden and his Japanese and likely Australian counterparts, Fumio Kishida and Anthony Albanese respectively.
“It’ll be a continuation of the conversation they’ve (PM Modi and President Biden) already had on how we see the picture in Ukraine. They’ll talk all of that through & this’ll be similarly constructive & straightforward,” the US NSA said.
Earlier, Foreign Secretary Vinay Kwatra also talked about India’s stand on the Russia-Ukraine conflict and stressed that ‘India has always been in favour of ceasefire.’ “Our position on Ukraine is amply clear and has been reiterated many times. Right from the time when hostilities began, we asked for an immediate cessation of hostilities and dialogue remains the best policy to move forward in this regard,” Kwatra said.
Earlier, the Indian Ambassador to Japan Sanjay Kumar Verma informed about PM Modi’s Quad itinerary and noted that he is set to meet 35 major business leaders from Japan.
“PM Modi will arrive here on May 23 & will have interactions with business leaders as well as business CEOs in a one-to-one format. Thereafter, there will be an Indian diaspora community event & May 24 is largely devoted to Quad meeting. PM Modi will meet around 35 major business leaders from Japan. In addition, there will be few CEOs, chairmen and presidents of the companies who will be independently and separately meeting PM,” SK Verma said.
