Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) CM candidate Bhagwant Mann will contest from Dhuri constituency in Sangrur district in the upcoming Assembly elections in Punjab. The announcement was made by AAP leader Raghav Chadha.
The Dhuri constituency falls under Punjab’s Sangrur district. Mann is currently the Member of Parliament (MP) from the district.
“We will announce the Assembly Constituency of AAP’s chief ministerial candidate Bhagwant Mann in a press conference at 3 pm in Mohali. Stay tuned!” Chadha, who is AAP’s national spokesperson, had tweeted earlier today.
Mann was named the AAP’s chief ministerial candidate by party convener and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday.
“Aam Aadmi Party Lok Sabha MP from Sangrur constituency in Punjab Bhagwant Mann will be the party’s chief ministerial candidate for the upcoming Assembly elections,” Kejriwal had said while addressing a press conference.
‘Courage & responsibility both have increased now’
After being named as the CM candidate, Bhagwant Mann said that his courage and responsibility both have increased now, exuding confidence that his party will come to power in the state.
“My courage and responsibility both have increased. The public has a lot of expectations from us and that is why our responsibility has also increased. This time, we will win the elections with a huge majority and work together as a team,” he said in an exclusive interview with Times Now.
The elections to elect 117 members of the Legislative Assembly in Punjab will be held on February 20.
The term of the current assembly elected in 2017 will expire on 27 March 2022. The ruling Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) are seen as the main contenders in the upcoming elections
