The new appointees in the Congress state unit of Punjab held a meeting with party leader Rahul Gandhi at his residence, here in Delhi.
Punjab Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader Partap Bajwa, deputy CLP leader Raj Kumar Chabbewal, along with Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) chief Amrinder Singh Raja Warring and Working President Bharat Bhushan Ashu were present at the meeting. Raja Warring will also meet Congress President Sonia Gandhi at her residence today.
Raja Warring had recently been appointed at the post of PCC Chief, replacing Navjot Singh Sidhu as after facing a debacle in the recently held Assembly elections, Congress high command had asked its state unit chiefs to resign from their position.
While speaking to the media, Warring said that now Congress party is not going to tolerate indiscipline and strict action would be taken against those who will make any public comment against their party.
“Either it’s a senior leader or junior, there will be zero tolerance for indiscipline. They might have some problem with any of us. But that shouldn’t mean they can say anything on a public platform. That won’t be tolerated,” the Punjab Congress chief said.
Raja Warring also said that they will try to give Congress, a new model with an aim to boost the morale of party workers in the state.
This statement came true when Congress Disciplinary Committee held a meeting today to discuss actions to be taken over party leaders KV Thomas and Sunil Jakhar.
Jakhar, who was under criticism, after allegedly being spoken against Dalits, got a show-cause notice from the Committee today. The committee has given him time to reply within the period of 7 days after which it will decide upon the action to be taken against him.
