PSI scam case: Karnataka Home Minister protecting prime accused Divya Hagaragi, alleges DK Shivakumar

Karnataka Congress chief DK Shivakumar  alleged that the state Home Minister Araga Jnanendra is safeguarding Divya Hagaragi, the prime accused in the Police Sub-Inspector (PSI) recruitment Scam.
“She (Divya Hagaragi- prime accused in the PSI scam case) is in the custody of the state Home Minister and BJP leaders. There is no doubt about it. They should give notice to the state Home Minister as to what is his link with her,” ANI quoted Shivakumar as saying.
Congress and the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have been taking potshots at each other ever since the large-scale irregularities in the recruitment of police sub-inspectors (PSI) in Karnataka came to the fore.
The recruitment scam came to light in the Kalaburagi district after an aspirant was given 100 per cent marks though he had attempted only 21 questions in one of the question papers. More than 54,000 candidates wrote the exam for 545 posts. Police sources said the initial probe revealed that up to Rs 75 lakh to 80 lakh was charged from the candidates as bribes.
So far, more than 10 people have been arrested including the Afzalpur MLA’s gunman. A BJP leader, who was close to many high-profile leaders in Karnataka, is on the run while her husband has been arrested.
Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai had on Saturday assured a thorough investigation into the Police Sub-Inspector (SI) recruitment scam and said that the action will be taken against those found guilty.
“Everything related to the PSI recruitment scam will be thoroughly investigated, and action will be taken against those found guilty,” ANI had quoted the Karnataka CM as saying.
