India is celebrating its 75th Independence Day on August 15th 2022. Prime Minister Narendra Modi giving a rousing speech at the Red Fort on the occasion and also hoisted the national flag at the iconic monument to kick off Independence Day celebrations.
Like many prominent Indian celebrities, the sports fraternity too joined in the celebrations to commemorate the 75th year of India’s independence from the British rule. Many prominent names like Virat Kohli and Abhinav Binra celebreated India’s independence day in style.
“75 glorious years. Proud to be an Indian. Happy Independence Day to all. Jai Hind,” tweeted ex-India captain Virat Kohli.
India captain Rohit Sharma posted a picture of him in traditional attire hurling the Indian flag. “75 years of independence. Wishing everyone a very Happy Independence Day,” he wrote.
India Test batting mainstay Cheteshwar Pujara posted a rousing picture of him walking a playing tunnel with Indian flags on all sides, accompanied with an inspiring wish where he saluted the spirit of the Indian soldiers and freedom fighters. “Happy Independence Day, India! Salute to our freedom fighters, soldiers, and to all the people who endlessly work to make our nation great. Blessed to be an Indian. Jai Hind,” he tweeted.
India’s first individual gold medallist at the Olympics, shooter Abhinav Bindra tweeted a picture of him as India’s official flag bearer for the opening ceremony of the 2016 Rio Olympics with the caption,”A Happy Independence Day ! #IndependenceDay #IndiaAt75,”.
India’s star at the Commonwealth Games 2022, table tennis player Sharath Kamal shared a picture of him standing at the podium of CWG 2022 when he won the gold medal in the men’s singles event of the competition. “To all of my fellow Indians, a very happy #IndependenceDay. May our #Tiranga keep flying high. Jai Hind,” he tweeted in the caption.
