A fresh controversy has emerged within the family of late Samajwadi Party founder Mulayam Singh Yadav after his son, Prateek Yadav, announced that he is seeking a divorce from his wife, Aparna Yadav.
In an Instagram post, Prateek Yadav claimed that Aparna had damaged his family relationships and accused her of being more interested in fame and influence. He said he is going through a difficult mental phase and alleged that his wife showed no concern for his condition. According to him, she “only bothers about herself” and does not support him emotionally. He also used strong words to describe her, calling her a “bad soul” and saying that he felt unfortunate to have married her.
The Instagram post quickly went viral and triggered widespread discussion on social media.
Aparna Yadav has not responded publicly to the allegations so far. It is also not clear whether any formal legal process for divorce has been started.
Prateek Yadav and Aparna Yadav were married in 2019. Aparna is politically active and is associated with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). She has contested and won Assembly elections and maintains a strong presence on social media. Prateek alleged that her focus on publicity and political growth created tension within the family.
Prateek is linked to the Samajwadi Party through his father, while Aparna is associated with the BJP.
Though reports of differences between the couple had surfaced earlier, this is the first time Prateek has spoken openly about divorce.
