The politics over the road cave-in Lucknow have intensified with Karnataka Congress taking a jibe at the BJP government and saying that the potholes are part of UP’s development model.
Karnataka Congress Chief DK Shivakumar shared the video of the road cave-in near Kaiserbagh in central Lucknow. The incident took place just near UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s office.
“People don’t understand that the potholes in roads across Karnataka are actually part of the BJP’s UP model of development. They themselves say they want to turn Karnataka into UP and you can see that in the potholes,” DK Shivakumar wrote in the video post.
As per reports, around 8-10 feet wide ditch emerged after the road caved in and disrupted the traffic in the area on Thursday. Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident.
Lucknow was selected as one of the Smart Cities under the Urban Ministry 100 Smart City Mission. The mission was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on June 21, 2015.
Shivajinagar Congress MLA Rizwan Arshad said, “Karnataka has been a progressive state. It is known for its economy, harmony, and progress across the country. Bengaluru is an international city and exports the largest IT. What is that which has inspired the BJP leaders to take UP as a model? UP is a backward state where there is no equality. There is no rule of law and there is no progress. So, if a progressive state like Karnataka makes UP a model for the BJP, then the model of UP—all the potholes, bad infrastructure, law and order situation, communal polarisation, everything will be implemented in Karnataka. This is what Shiv Kumar means to say in his tweet.”
