Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot, while on a visit to Bikaner took a dig at PM Modi’s recent visit to Rajasthan saying ‘he knelt down before public (in Sirohi) because he wanted to appear humbler than me.’ Gehlot further said that ‘instead of displaying such antiques, Modi should give the message of brotherhood and love to the people of the country.’
Notably, PM Modi arrived in Abu Road of Sirohi district late on Friday and knelt down thrice before the public, apologising for not being able to address them as he had to obey the loudspeaker rules.
“He (Modi) knows that in Rajasthan, Ashok Gehlot has the image of a very humble man…a simple man. This has been my image since childhood. How will Modi ji contest this? He wanted to appear humbler than me. But he does not give this message. He is not following my advice. And what do you want to convey by kneeling down thrice?” Gehlot said.
He also spoke on Congress’ loss in the 2019 elections saying ‘voters got swayed away under Modi wave.’ “Despite our good work, govt gets changed every time. Earlier we lost as voters got swayed away under the Modi wave. We were winning MP, CG and Rajasthan (in the 2019 elections) but lost. I request the people to give us another chance,” he said.
Gehlot further admitted a ‘lack of communication’ with employees (referring to the strike) being the reason for the downfall of his previous government.
