Launching a scathing attack amid the ongoing border dispute between India and China, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is “afraid” of Beijing and his “silence” on the “increasing Chinese infiltration” into Indian territory is “very harmful” for the country.
The former Congress chief took to Twitter and shared five “truths” about PM Modi. “Some truths about the prime minister: 1. Is afraid of China. 2. Hides the truth from the public. 3. Just protects his own image. 4. Lowers the morale of the Army. 5 Plays with the security of the country,” he tweeted.
The Wayanad MP further said, “The increasing infiltration by China and the prime minister’s silence are very harmful for the country.”
The Congress party has been alleging that China continues to occupy Indian territory and the central government in India is doing nothing to reclaim itGandhi has also been attacking PM Modi on the handling of the issue of Chinese transgressions into Indian territory.
Over the last two years, India and China have been facing a standoff between the militaries of the two countries on the Line of Actual Control (LAC).
Meanwhile, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar has said Centre would like to resolve India-China border issues on fair, equitable and mutually agreed upon terms.
“We cannot resolve it by one country saying that this is the solution, and for us to accept it,” the minister said while speaking at a programme organised by the Kerala unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Thiruvananthapuram on Sunday.
He further said that the government is taking strong stand in the border issues, including India-China border issue, the country is facing.
