Pizza delivered in 20 minutes! Domino’s launches quick delivery service in 14 cities; CEO says ‘learn from India’

Now you can get favourite pizza delivered in less than half an hour. Domino’s Pizza – India’s largest pizza chain, on Tuesday announced the launch of its 20-minutes delivery service across 20 zones in 14 cities. The brand had earlier pioneered 30-minutes delivery and established itself as a market leader in the QSR sector.
What is driving Domino’s India 20-minute delivery plan is optimisation of in-store process improvements, dynamic resource planning, technology upgradation and interventions for improved operational efficiencies, and expanding stores within the vicinity. These steps help the brand optimise the overall timing of the entire process, ensuring the delivery of hotter, fresher and tastier pizza in 20 minutes without compromising the food quality and safety of its delivery riders, the company said.
This has been made possible through a three-pronged approach using analytics, insights and technology to give customers higher service levels across multiple pin codes in India, wherein service and quality are the number 1 priority, said Sameer Khetarpal, CEO & MD, Jubilant FoodWorks Limited.
India Domino’s largest market outside US
Domino’s CEO Russell Weiner, calling India the pizza maker’s largest market outside the home country, said the nation has a huge potential and a consumer-centric market. “Domino’s India growth trajectory has been phenomenal in the recent past, and we believe there is huge potential ahead for us,” he said.
India is a great example of successfully driving consumer-centric strategies across all business verticals, he underscored.
Domino’s to increase presence in India
The pizza chain will double the number of outlets in India from 1,700 currently to about 3,000 in the medium term. The world’s largest pizza chain has close to 20,000 stores in 95 countries with US accounting for 6,700 followed by India.
“India is a critical market for us, the biggest market store-wise outside of the US. We will add about 250 stores every year,” Weiner told ToI in an interview. Domino’s is advising stores globally to learn from India. “I advise (stores all over) to do it like Domino’s India. When you are the number one pizza company and number one restaurant in India, you have scale,” he highlighted.
He praised how during tough times Domino’s India has a way to offer great prices to customers by having leverage with suppliers. Domino’s India does that very well, Weiner said.
In India, Domino’s Pizza’s major portion of business comes from delivery and sit-in accounting for 30 per cent. But the single biggest channel for getting new customers remains the stores.
